Welcoming Arné Booysen To Our Professional Lines Team

Please join us in welcoming Arné Booysen to the Professional Lines team. Arné joined Allied World’s Australia team last month in his new role as AVP Underwriting Manager, Professional Lines. In this role he is responsible for the national Professional Indemnity portfolio for Allied World in Australia. This keen sportsman was born in South Africa before moving to Sydney at the age of 13. At nine years old, Arné took up gymnastics and quickly rose through the ranks. Until the age of 21 he proudly represented Australia at an elite level. Now he enjoys playing rugby at a club level and is an avid Rugby Union supporter (go Springboks!). Arné currently lives with his wife and two daughters in Sydney, and the family loves exploring the east coast of Australia in their spare time.

Arne started his insurance career at Aon, where he developed a wealth of experience in Professional Indemnity. He then moved to London Australia Underwriting, where he spent almost 13 years specialising in D&O, PI, IT and Cyber insurance. During this time Arné worked with engineers, architects, mining consultants, management consultant, public relations consultants, accountants and IT consultants. He now looks forward to continuing to support clients in these professions as he focuses on underwriting for professional lines at Allied World.

We asked Arné what he was most looking forward to in his new role. He says it will be meeting with clients and brokers to learn about the new challenges they are facing. Whilst the majority of Allied World’s portfolio continues to be excess capacity, Arné explained that a key part of joining the company was to reinforce and expand on Allied World’s current Professional Indemnity offering. He will be focused on corporate and mid-market Construction and Miscellaneous type firms (both primary and excess), excess Lawyers, Architects and Technology firms. Arne is also in the process of refreshing the primary policy wording suite of Allied World’s products. Another area Arne is focusing on is enhancing Allied World’s diversity of distribution in the mid-market space, including expanding Allied World’s footprint outside of New South Wales.
